Setting up Pop-Up App Feed Cards

Everything you need to know about selecting an app feed card to pop-up when users open the app

This article explains some important information about pop-up app feed cards. For detailed instructions on how to set up an app feed card (including pop-up), check out the “How to Create an App Feed Card” article below.

  • Access to the Merchant Portal
  • Admin level permissions, Marketing admin level permissions 
  • Applies to mobile app only

Important Notes Regarding Pop-Up Cards

Note 1:  Introduction to Pop-Up Cards

  1. Smooth now supports pop-up cards on the app feed
  2. Users will see the pop-up card once when they open the app
  3. Users can either close the pop-up or click a button to navigate to a specific area in the app

Note 2: Pop-Up Card Selection

  1. Pop-up card selection is found in the section row style type option.
  2. Important: Pop-up cards display only once per user during the designated time frame.

Note 3:  Allowing Multiple Views of Pop-Up Cards

  1. To show the pop-up card more than once, create multiple app feed rows for the pop-up card you with to show more than once
  2. Example: To show a card every two weeks, create a new feed row with a start date after the previous end date

Best Practices / Notes

  • Pop up cards should be used to ensure users are aware of important information such as new products, seasonal items, new locations and exciting offers
  • Only one pop-up card can be set up for your app feed for any given time period\
  • While Note 3 above explains how you can allow pop-up cards to show more frequently, it is important the pop-up cards alert users to exciting offers and not be repetitive

If it should be, update the app feed layout to include the desired locations OR, be sure to add this app feed row to all applicable app feeds
